Sunday School Class

Dear Friends in Christ:

Proverbs 22:6 reads, “train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Sunday School does just that:  it builds a solid foundation in faith.  And, with that solid foundation comes a sense of pride, confidence, and an understanding of other’s feelings.  A 2002 study by the Center for Research on Religion and Urban Civil Society found that when kids attend church regularly, they also do better in school.
Did you know that this is “contagious?”  A 2001 study that two out of three adults (63%) who were churched as children take their own children to a church. That's double the proportion among adults who were not churched and who now have kids of their own (33%)!

What’s the take-home message?  In our Sunday School, in partnership with parents, we work to “train up” children because we lay foundations that will last for generations beyond today.

Lord of Life provides opportunities for students to understand, apply, and practice God’s Word through interactive classroom materials, videos, songs, and web-based applications.  Our teachers have years of experience in Christian Education and some have also taught in public schools.

Our Sunday School program features interactive “discovery centers.”  Students rotate through the discovery centers, which present the main Bible theme in different media (for example, the students may hear the story of Nicodemus through Games, Snacks, Drama, and Music & Memory  workshops).  Presenting the story multiple times through different learning means (visually, auditorily, aesthetically, etc.) will cater to the different learning styles of each child, thus maximizing learning.  You may already be familiar with this model, as our own Vacation Bible School is based from this workshop rotation model.

We will have a day of celebration on September 11th as we start a new year of Sunday School for all ages.  We begin Sunday School that day at 9:10am and it concludes at 10:10am.  And, there will be a blessing of the teachers at the 10:30 service.  All are welcome.  We have Sunday School for children and youth from age 3 through 12th grade.  And we have an adult Sunday School class.

Faithfully serving you and your family,

Sunday School Superintendent
