Shrimp & Game Night - January 28, 5:00 p.m.

It’s that time of year again!  This annual event is a wonderful time of crazy games and great food.  It is a chance to get to know one another in a night wholly devoted to fun!  There are, of course, the “normal” games - card games, rummy cubed, scrabble, etc.  But, the game of the night is Skittle Ball!  And it’s Men vs. Women.  As you can see, below there is a lovely shot of Jan at the reigns, with the cheering of Rita and Judy, and I’m not sure if Art is encouraging or not!  But, whoever wins, it’s bound to be a fun times for all.  Meanwhile, Randy cleans the board again!  We’ll just have to see what happens this year.  Come join the fun!

Annual Meeting - January 29

The meeting everyone looks forward to every year!  The Annual Congregational Meeting!  This year, it is on Sunday, January 29th at 9:10am.  Primarily, it is an opportunity to review the last year through the reports of the various committees and through open forum discussion.  We also get to elect 2 (or three) people to represent Lord of Life at the Synod Assembly.  In the next few months, as we work our way through the Gospel of Mark on Sundays we’ll hear he words, “Come and See” often.  This is a chance to come and see, to come and hear, and to come and share.  See you there!

Young Adult - Theology on Tap

Starting in February, Harford Conference churches will be hosting Theology on Tap around Harford County.  We will gather to discuss important issues of our day, learn from the lessons of history, and work through the theological implications.  It is an opportunity for honest discussion and diving theologically deeper into current issues.  Here’s the tentative schedule:

Theology on Tap Schedule
February 1st, 8:30pm   Aberdeen Green Turtle
led by Pastor Lisa Watson-Hill
February 8th, 8:30pm My Three Sons in Edgewood
led by Pastor Christine Parker
February 15th, 8:30pm Coakley's Pub in Havre de Grace
led by Pastor Mark Crispell
February 29th, 8:30pm Du Claw in Bel Air
led by Pastor John Burk/
Vicar Chas Wiener

All our welcome.  Some locations allow for alcoholic beverages, which people are welcome to consume.  And yet, even where that is not available, we’ll have plenty of theology on tap, both from seminary-trained leaders and equally, if not more importantly, from participants.

New Member Classes

We can celebrate the fact that there are a number of people interested in joining the Lord of Life family.  And so, we will have New Member classes in late January and early February: January 29th after 10:30 worship, and February 5th & 12th between services.  All classes will be open to anyone who would like to participate - no deep theological wisdom necessary.  Here’s a breakdown of the classes:

New Member Class Schedule
January 29th   Lutheran Theology 101
February 5th The “big C” Church
February 12th Ministries of Lord of Life

We will then receive new members on the Transfiguration Sunday, which is February 19th.  All are welcome of course, but if you know you plan to participate, please let Pastor Christine know.  And we ask your prayers for all those considering joining this small part of the body of Christ called Lord of life Lutheran Church.
